Morris Dancing Marks Return Of Live Music

Big Al & The Blistering Buicks

Every one of us has had a birthday or two during lockdown and those with significant milestones have missed out on celebrating with friends and family.

So, it was with great anticipation that we held our first birthday celebration and live music event of 2021 on Friday 6th August.

Morris dancing

Music was provided by Big Al & The Blistering Buicks who quickly got the audience from toe tapping to dancing. Even birthday boy himself, Nigel Morris, hopped onto the dancefloor to show off his moves, which can only be defined as Morris dancing (just kidding buddy!).

If you have an upcoming celebration or indeed a missed milestone and you are looking for a venue, get in touch via our CONTACT US page.

Reopening Monday 17th May

Reopening 17th May

Planned Reopening

Preparations are underway for the reopening of the club at midday on Monday 17th May.

As before this is dependent on any last-minute government announcements that might delay the lifting of the relevant restrictions.

Between 17th May and June 21st certain familiar restrictions will still apply, and it is our obligation to ensure all visitors comply.

We recognise that there are those who are anxious to meet up with friends at last whilst there will be others who are anxious about the continued risks of socialising indoors. It is important therefore to respect each other’s boundaries and not assume that everyone is at the same stage.

We therefore ask that you refrain from hugging and embracing anyone not in your household, be mindful of others, and help the staff and stewards by adhering to the rules which you can find on our Covid-19 Updates page.

We will be reintroducing our popular regular events as soon as restrictions allow and look forward to seeing you all back here soon!

A Christmas Message To You

A Christmas Message

Seasons Greetings to all our members and friends, and a big thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout this challenging year!

A big thank you also to our new stewards and our regular and occasional staff, all of whom embraced the frequent changes at short notice so that we could keep our doors open. We take our Christmas hats off to you!

Whilst we reflect on the good times we have enjoyed in the past, we can also look forward to better times ahead. You are all in our thoughts at this time, and we wish you good health and happiness until we are able to welcome you back.

We might not be able to celebrate with each other this year but we will raise a glass to one and all, and look forward to seeing you again soon!

Re-Reopening Wednesday 2nd December

Reopening 2nd December

We are pleased to announce that we will be reopening at midday on 2nd December.
In line with other hospitality venues there will be a number of restrictions in place – and rather than tell you what you already know, here is what you can do:

  • You will be able to visit with other members of your household
  • You will be able to remove your mask when sat at a table
  • You will be able to order tea, coffee and soft drinks
  • You will be able to play snooker, pool and darts (although no better than you were able to before)
  • You will be able to consume alcoholic drinks when ordering a substantial meal
  • You will be able to enjoy the company of the staff and other members (what’s two metres between friends?)
  • You will be able to make use of the facilities and relax after a strenuous Christmas shopping outing
  • You will be able to take advantage of our “substantial meal” discounts, with a fixed price of £1.50
  • You will be able to gasp in awe at our Christmas decorations (although this is not compulsory)

Carl’s A La Carte menu is back by popular demand and will be available Tuesdays through to Sundays.

Further information can be found on our Covid-19 Updates page.

For the continued safety of our staff and members, and to minimise any risk of transmission, we are not currently admitting children or dogs.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to Contact Us, or pop in and speak to a member of staff.

We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Lockdown But Not Out

We have regrettably closed our doors once again for the duration of the lockdown, but that does not mean we are closed.

Due to the popularity of the new food service, an enhanced menu is now available for takeaway, along with bottled products, with more to be announced soon.

Takeaways can be ordered online via the Bali Hi Menu, or from the shortlink bit.ly/sccmenu.

The service will operate from 12.00 pm to 8.30 pm Tuesdays to Sundays, with collections available from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm.

Poppy Appeal 2020

New Ways To Show Your Support

The Royal British Legion have responded to the impact of Covid-19 with some innovative ways for the public to show their support during this year’s poppy appeal campaign.

You can now order poppies by post, take part in a sponsored Poppy Run, download printable poppies and take on an 11/11 challenge.

The closing date for “Poppies In The Post” is 31st October so that they can guarantee delivery in time for Remembrance.

To find out how you can help with this year’s appeal, head over to the British Legion website or click the image below.

NHS Test And Trace App Goes Live

The new NHS Test and Trace App is now live and available from the following link:

Look for the QR Code posters in the club and other venues you visit. Open the app, point it at the QR Code and your visit will be logged

Download the app and activate it. It is completely anonymous so your privacy is protected. It simply alerts you to any locations or venues where you might have come into contact with someone who has tested positive for the virus. You will be alerted and given advice on what action to take if this situation arises.

Check in with the app every time you visit the club, along with any other venue you visit, so that the good people at the NHS can monitor any outbreaks and prevent another total lockdown. This is vital to the local economy as well as the survival of the club.

We Are Open!

The club re-opened successfully at midday on 6th July following the announcement on 23rd June regarding the easement of restrictions.

All social distancing measures have now been implemented in line with the guidelines appropriate to our venue. As a result it has been necessary to restrict some of the facilities until it is considered safe to reintroduce them.

Entry will be via the main entrance as usual and the exit will be via the patio doors.

The bar security grille will remain in place during opening hours to protect staff members who will take orders and payment behind the safety of a perspex shield. Orders will be served at the opposite end of the bar.
