Covid-19 Updates

End Of Restrictions From February 24th 2022

The remaining restrictions have now been removed and the legal requirement to self-isolate has ended.

The wearing of masks inside the club will continue to be personal choice, and we would ask all members and guests to continue to follow official advice and to respect the choices of others.

Restrictions From 30th November 2021

Some restrictions are coming back into force from Tuesday 30th November. The wearing of face masks in shops and on public transport will once again be mandatory unless exempt. This change will not affect hospitality and therefore the club will continue to operate as usual.

The wearing of masks inside the club will continue to be personal choice, and we would ask all members and guests to continue to follow official advice and to respect the choices of others.

Relaxation Of Restrictions From 19th July

The majority of imposed restrictions will be lifted from Monday 19th July with the emphasis moving towards personal choice.

In order to ensure that all members and visitors to the club remain comfortable we ask that you respect other people’s choices.

The stewards and staff will be able to refuse admission to anyone showing symptoms.

Hand sanitisers will remain freely available.

Planned Reopening On 17th May

From 17th May hospitality venues will once again be able to welcome customers indoors, with similar restrictions to those imposed during the brief interlude between lockdowns last year.

Restrictions will still apply as follows:

  • Rule of 6 or 2 households max per table
  • Social distancing rules must continue to be observed on the premises
  • Food and drink must be ordered and consumed whilst seated
  • Table service will therefore be provided until further notice
  • Further government announcements are expected and any changes will be posted here

Opening hours will not be restricted however, and there will no longer be a legal requirement to order a substantial meal with alcohol.

Roadmap To Relaxation

No Earlier Than 12th April – Restaurants and pub gardens will be allowed to serve customers sitting outdoors, including alcohol.

No Earlier Than 17th May – Pubs, restaurants and other hospitality venues can seat customers indoors.

Between 12th April and 17th May certain restrictions will remain in place. Further announcements will be made in due course.

Here We Go Again

Following the latest announcement that the majority of Surrey will be going into Tier 3 from Saturday 19th December, we have to advise that we will be closing our doors once again on Friday 18th December at 11pm until further notice.

Tier 4 restrictions now apply.

Tis The Time To Be Jolly Careful

We are very grateful to all our members who have supported their club since the reopening on 2nd December.

The reopening has been more successful than we had envisioned, with the fixed price substantial meals allowing our members to continue to enjoy the facilities for less than the price of a nearly out-of-date sandwich.

In the run up to Christmas we expect more members to visit more frequently, and spend longer with us. The necessity to provide meals to everyone wanting to order alcoholic drinks means that the kitchen will be busier than usual, and of course it takes longer to take orders and serve drinks to a table.

Therefore please allow more time for drinks and food to be served during busy times, and please be polite to the staff at all times who are doing their best to cater for everyone.

Please also be aware that during the busiest times the following additional rules may be deployed:

  • If all tables are occupied you might be temporarily refused entry
  • Each table should only be occupied by one household
  • Members will be given priority over non-members and guests
  • Social distancing must be observed at all times
  • Masks must be worn at all times except when seated at a table
  • Anyone repeatedly ignoring the rules will be asked to leave

We have a duty of care to all our members and staff and we need your help in order to keep the club operating at a manageable level. The necessity to provide table service means that our capacity is limited while we are operating as if we were a restaurant, and that means when all the tables are occupied we are effectively full until a table becomes available.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Re-reopening Wednesday 2nd December

We are very pleased to announce that we will be open again from 12.00 pm on Wednesday 2nd December.

The whole county of Surrey has been placed in Tier 2 where the following rules apply:

  • You will only be able to visit with members of your own household
  • No standing at the bar – table service will be provided
  • The rule of six will apply outdoors
  • We will be operating primarily as a restaurant, which means you will be required to order a meal with alcoholic drinks. You can of course order hot and soft drinks without a meal
  • Snooker will be available and non-alcoholic drinks can be taken upstairs to the snooker room. Two people from up to two households can play on each of the three tables
  • Last orders by 10 pm.

We will be adding some very conservatively priced meals to our menu for the duration so that your average spend will not be greatly impacted.

We will be offering a 50% discount off a selection of items on our menu, with prices starting from as little as £1.50.

All necessary measures have been taken to provide a safe yet still welcoming environment, and hand sanitiser is freely available.

Our policy on children and dogs remains the same as before and will be reviewed as and when the restrictions change.

We will provide an update on Christmas opening times and restrictions nearer the time.

Previous Updates

Back To Lockdown

The club is now closed for the duration of the lockdown from 5th November to 2nd December, subject to any extension.

However, Carl will be offering a takeaway food service on Tuesdays through to Sundays via the Bali Hi Menu, or use the shortlink bit.ly/sccmenu.

We are also working on providing a limited range of drinks alongside the food service, and will add updates in due course. In the mean time it is safe to say that bottled products will be available to purchase when you collect your food order.

The new NHS Test and Trace App is now live and available from the following link:

Look for the QR Code posters in the club and other venues you visit. Open the app, point it at the QR Code and your visit will be logged

Download the app and activate it. It is completely anonymous so your privacy is protected. It simply alerts you to any locations or venues where you might have come into contact with someone who has tested positive for the virus. You will be alerted and given advice on what action to take if this situation arises.

Check in with the app every time you visit the club, along with any other venue you visit, so that the good people at the NHS can monitor any outbreaks and prevent another total lockdown. This is vital to the local economy as well as the survival of the club.

There is much light at the end of the tunnel and many planned improvements in progress, so your support now will pay dividends later. We are doing our part, and all we request from our members is that you do yours, by attending whenever possible.

We are now providing Table Service in line with new regulations. You can view the menu online from the link, click on the image below on your smartphone, or simply use the URL bit.ly/sccmenu.

Table Service Menu

The Staines And District Conservative Club remains the safest place in Staines to enjoy the limited freedom we have at our disposal under the current government guidelines, and your support in these difficult times is appreciated.

We continue to lead the way in innovation, compliance, safety and equality.

The club re-opened successfully at midday on 6th July following the announcement on 23rd June regarding the easement of restrictions.

All social distancing measures have now been implemented in line with the guidelines appropriate to our venue. As a result it has been necessary to restrict some of the facilities until it is considered safe to reintroduce them.

Entry will be via the main entrance as usual and the exit will be via the patio doors.

The bar security grille will remain in place during opening hours to protect staff members who will take orders and payment behind the safety of a perspex shield. Orders will be served at the opposite end of the bar.

Normal service with a smile has resumed, except behind a perspex screen

Snooker, pool and darts have been reintroduced, with hand sanitiser freely available. Masks are not compulsory in these areas with the exception of the gaming machines, which have now been brought back into use.

We are encouraging use of the outside spaces when weather permits, and this area is being extended and more seating will be made available over the coming weeks.

The club is now open to both MEMBERS and GUESTS, but please remember that this can change at any time without notice. For the time being we are asking members to bring no more than two guests at a time, and priority will be given to members if we reach the reduced capacity we are limited to.

We are not permitting dogs until further notice. Children will only be allowed on the premises if sanctioned by a committee member and subject to our usual rules.

Please pay by contactless debit card whenever possible, respect the social distancing rules, and be mindful of other members. Working together sensibly we can look forward to bringing some much needed normality back into people’s lives.

AGM Deferred

At a meeting of the committee it was agreed unanimously to postpone the AGM until 2021. Due to the extraordinary circumstances and temporary closure of the club prior to the scheduled 2020 AGM, the decision has been taken to carry a motion of “no change” until the next scheduled AGM in April 2021.

Remembrance Day 2020

Remembrance day will be on Sunday 8th November. There will be no parade or ceremony this year and gatherings will not be permitted. However, the club will be open as usual to members, and according to the Spelthorne Council website, the laying of wreaths will be streamed online to mark the occasion.

It is therefore more important than ever before to support the Royal British Legion’s poppy appeal, full details of which can be found via our Blog Page.
